smcFanControl overview
smcFanControl controls the fans of every Intel Mac to make it run cooler.
smcFanControl lets the user set the minimum speed of the build-in fans. So you can increase your minimum fan speed to make your Intel Mac run cooler. However in order not to damage your machines smcFanControl doesn't let you set minimum speed to a value below Apple's defaults.

SMCFan Control is not working. What should I do?
Shutdown your Mac >>> Hold down Shift + Control + Option + Power button for 5 seconds >>> Notice the light on the mac charger change in colors >>> Log back in >>> SMC Fan Control should be fixed.
How to turn off SMCFan Control?
Open the Finder, click on Applications in the sidebar. Scroll to locate smcFanControl, drag its icon to the Trash. You can also right-click on the app and select "Move to Trash". Then right-click the "Trash" icon and choose "Empty Trash" to uninstall.
How to manually adjust the speed of Mac fans?
Launch the app, click on the “Custom” button, manually adjust the speed of the Mac fans. You can do this based on either a constant RPM value or a sensor-based temperature value.

Works great on my M1 13" Macbook Pro. I use this app to force the fans to turn on when the laptop gets warm. Without it, the OS lets the laptop get very warm and doesn't kick on the fans.

This was the first fan control app I ran on my 2009 imacs. I only found it useful for monitoring the temperature, as it seemed to have many glitches when actually trying to control fan speed. Usually it did not work at all.

I really liked this app on my 2013 and 2017 MacBook Airs, but it's not working at all on my 2020 MacBook Air M1.
